(Since the course) I feel more assertive in what I want–I was able to deal with change better–the organization changed. My attitude towards life–even in my personal life– was different. I was told by people close to me that I was looking at things differently.

[My subordinates] would say I'm giving them a lot of work, but that at the end of the day, they feel happy and important. I feel more of a leader–they come to me for advice–they feel more confident if I give them the ok. Before I did most of the work–now I give it mostly to them. Most of it is because of the course. I made an effort when I came back from the leadership course...Now, in difficult situations, or in crises, I remember the course–that there are other ways of dealing with things.

You were a great facilitator. Your input was very helpful to get us talking–very insightful. Thank you for this. It was a great start for the staff to start discussing these issues. It helps us to focus, and not get bogged down in personality "quirks".

Never having done this before, I had extensive reservations for myself and my staff. After interviews both inside and outside the system, and many questions to Tracy, I felt generally good about the process going in; and better during the meeting and also after the meeting. I have appreciated your expertise and willingness to delve into tough issues.

It was very enlightening being able to discuss difficult issues with co-workers. Išve learned that we must learn to communicate better as a team so that we can improve our service to the public. She did an excellent job of facilitating and not allowing negative feelings to arise.
Participant, about work group retreat
What I found most useful about your work with our group was your ability to bring out issues amongst us that we probably would not have dealt with (or dealt with as well) without your help. I think that everything you covered was very helpful. I was really surprised at some of the discussion, so I feel it was all useful. I really didnšt think we would have as much to discuss as we did. From this experience I learned that we should feel more comfortable when discussing issues with our supervisors. I was not very uncomfortable before, but after this, I will be even more at ease. Tracy listened to everyonešs comments. She gave us all the time we needed to get our thoughts together. I really appreciate your being able to help us maintain a calm and peaceful discussion, that may have gotten out of hand without your assistance.

I appreciated your ability to get us to open up and speak about our problems or what we perceived as problems - but on further discussion became clear were simply misunderstandings and lack of communication. Also, you kept a firm hand on us and did not allow us to go off on tangents or lose sight of the original premise. You were in control. You really are a master at drawing us out and making us discuss problems, etc. The day was a rewarding one in that I have a far better understanding about my job and my fellow workers. It was a breath of fresh air!
